Nokia 808 PureView vs. Nokia Lumia 920 Music Concert Recording Comparison

We were recording 23/11/2012 on the gig of Marko Maunuksela & Fantasia with 2 Nokia smartphones. They  played the old Mamba hit "Lauantai-ilta" (Saturday evening).

We know that the world's best smartphone for music concert recording is the Nokia 808 PureView (launched 5/2012), because thanks for its huge image sensor (41MP), it can use lossless zoom when shooting fullHD video. Beside that it has 2pcs HAAC (High Amplitude Audio Capture) microphones which are able to record in stereo without interference sounds at very high level (up to 140dB ) + even the lowest bass notes stand out nicely.

But now (11/2012) came the first proper contender in the market - Nokia Lumia 920. It can, at least in theory, come very close to the Nokia 808 PureView, because it has 3pcs HAAC microphones and the image sensor is now hung on a rack to stabilize the video image optically. This revolutionary innovation is called OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). On the other hand Nokia Lumia 920's image sensor is only 8.7 MP vs Nokia 808 PureView's image sensor is 41MP and so Lumia 920 can not use lossless zoom as like it is possible with Nokia 808. Beside that the audio recording with Lumia 920 has done in mono vs 808 PureView's recording is in stereo - it has been speculated that Nokia can change the audio recording of Lumia 920 later to stereo in coming software updates. I think the reason why it is in mono is that WP8 doesn't support yet stereo recording, because I  found out that it is in mono also with another WP8 phone HTC 8X - here is a gig video comparison of Nokia Lumia 920 vs HTC 8X:

Microsoft is making some audio improvements to WP8 with next update which is coming early on next year.

In this comparison video, I'm standing about 15 meters from the stage recording with Nokia 808 PureView and my wife is standing beside me on the right side and she is recording with Nokia Lumia 920. Because Nokia 808 PureView doesn't have any mechanical stabilizer (it has only software based stabilization) I am using a hand held mount as like this one: http://easycapexpertti.mybisi.com/product/handheld-mount-tripod-for-iphone-htc-lg-nokia-samsung-sony-mobile-phones + a camera neck strap as like this one: http://thumbs3.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mYby1F0juUI0E3egOEEn-dw.jpg -
Nokia Lumia 920 doesn't need any mount or neck strap, because it has that OIS system, which works very well as You can see on that video.
